OCTOPUS Vacuum Gripping Bars – General Overview

OCTOPUS vacuum gripping bars are designed to simplify the integration of OCTOPUS systems into palletising robots. Built on the same operating principles as the standard OCTOPUS units, these bars offer enhanced installation flexibility and adaptability to various load surfaces.

Key Features:

  • Quick-Mount Fixing Plate: Slotted, anodised aluminium plate enables fast and secure attachment to the machine.
  • Vacuum Generation: One or more compressed air-powered vacuum generators, depending on bar size.
  • Efficient Air Supply: Quick-connect fitting for compressed air input.
  • Integrated Control Housing: An anodised aluminium enclosure, open on one side, includes:
    • Two internal air inlets for rapid atmospheric pressure restoration at cycle end.
    • One port for optional vacuum switch installation.
  • Adaptive Suction Plate: Anodised aluminium plate with evenly spaced calibrated holes, covered with perforated foam rubber, ensuring a secure grip on smooth, rough, or irregular surfaces.

This design allows a single bar to handle diverse items such as wooden joists, metal profiles, and their supporting pallets.

Customization Options:

  • Available with shut-off valves and custom suction plates upon request.
  • For weight-sensitive applications, aluminium components can be replaced with Polyene, a thermoplastic material that reduces weight by approximately 40%.
